Find the solution you need with ExpressPoint’s innovative engineering.
ExpressPoint supports a wide range of technology from 24 different product sets from hundreds of manufacturers and over 300 hundred systems. ExpressPoint has developed over 5,000 functional and recertification test and repair processes and has worked with over 56,000 unique parts.
Frequently, ExpressPoint is asked by its customers to support products nearing or beyond their OEM’s scheduled end-of-life or beyond the end of factory service and support. Our engineers also work with our OEM customers reporting on analysis of our captured failure code data to improve the OEM’s product design, address manufacturing failures, and to implement ECO’s.
Are you wondering how you are going to continue to support your aging technology? ExpressPoint is ready to engineer and design a technology support program to fit your needs. ExpressPoint’s diverse group of highly-qualified electrical, mechanical and process engineers have the combination of product expertise, technical education and industry and OEM certifications to create cost-saving, time saving technology service solutions. Our engineering team will plan and implement reverse engineering and material sourcing needs, as well as analyze processes.
R&D Support
It is often difficult to obtain production time on your own manufacturing equipment. Furthermore, it is costly for R&D groups to validate prototypes. Our customers like the quick turn-around times and attention to detail with high yield. With substantial experience supporting R&D groups we are able to provide remove and replace services of prototype chips. Our stable process with high yields and short run programs eliminates functional issues related to the BGA replacement.
With IPC solder certified technicians ExpressPoint can perform a complete array of services, including component swapping, updates and small run assembly for prototype, supporting other R&D activities. Contact us to determine how ExpressPoint can help you with your short run, quick turn, prototype test and update needs.
Functional Equivalent
The end result of a functional equivalent is a more reliable source for support, possibly at a lower cost. Often times through the support cycle a component or unit becomes too scarce, too costly or too unreliable to meet your needs. Adhering to your requirements, ExpressPoint is able to assist with the identification and validation of a functional equivalent (FE). An FE can either be an off the shelf equivalent or a custom designed clone of an obsolete unit.
Test Development
Resulting in lower warranty claims and increased customer satisfaction, without increased costs for our customers, ExpressPoint engineers update test scripts to utilize loop back test methodology for complete automation. Understanding that returned product requires extensive testing because it is likely defective we work to ensure the units we receive are functional through complete, robust testing before shipping. ExpressPoint is able to identify and/or develop test fixtures for all the products we support, further customizing your program.
Process Development & Improvement
Our process improvements help us to maintain or lower repair costs to you. Continually working to improve the processes for the products we support, we have designed numerous enhancements to improve reliability and extend the life of your products. Enhancements such as upgraded ceramic jewels for print heads, robust metal print sensor brackets replacing the original weak plastic and turn around board fixtures to minimize connector strain while under test are examples of enhancements we have provided for our customers.
Transferring new products and new programs is simple through the use of our New Product Introduction (NPI) process. With a documented set of expectations and deliverables that are used to smoothly implement any launch, we are able to help you determine what is required to ensure the smoothest transition with minimal impact on your customer. When performing a new program implementation, we create a core team with a dedicated program manager to own the transfer process. Utilizing our NPI database, we track and maintain a record of all critical information. The end result is the assurance that your customer's needs are completely met with minimal effort on their part.
Data Reporting
ExpressPoint understands the need for complete and accurate data reporting. With complete engineering repair data in addition to standard shipping, receiving and warranty information, ExpressPoint is able to capture, report and analyze data associated with every repair. Using this data, we can identify design flaws or potential design enhancements to improve current and future product reliability.
Some key data elements that we capture are Symptom Code, Failure Found, Repair Performed, Date Received, Date Shipped, Last Date Shipped. Maintaining a complete history on every unit, we are also able to validate Engineering Change Order updates performed, BIOS updates, Firmware updates, etc. Contact us with your special data collection requirements and ExpressPoint will work with you on how to best meet your needs.
ASP Authorizations
Our Authorized Service Provider (ASP) status with a variety of manufacturers enables us to access parts and/or labor dollars for in-warranty events that are serviced at an ExpressPoint facility by our OEM certified technical staff. These reimbursements are focused on off-setting program costs or, to provide dollars directly back to our customers. Our current list of OEM ASPs is driven by specific customer opportunities however, we have the engineering and technical resources to become authorized by others as needed.
BGA
Our Sierra Research Technology (SRT) Summit 1100 component replacement machine allows our engineers the flexibility to offer a wide variety of BGA packages, including BGA, Micro-BGA, CSP, sockets and connectors. ExpressPoint's unique pasting process and expertise with BGA minimizes the number of components requiring removal in order to complete the BGA replacement. Our engineers develop a custom profile per board to ensure maximum yield. This process has allowed ExpressPoint to obtain in excess of 98% yield on the boards processed. In addition, to the SRT machine our Nicolet Imaging Systems (NIS) NXR1510 x-ray machine, allows the technicians to validate placement. ExpressPoint performs a 100% x-ray inspection to ensure quality.
